William Hague Charitable Trust doesn't exist

Howard Lake | 14 February 2001 | News

William Hague MP’s entry in the House of Commons register of MPs’ interests for 1999 and 2000, reports the Guardian, declared: “Any fees received as a result of speaking engagements will be paid into the William Hague Charitable Trust.” As Channel 4’s Mark Thomas Product found out, such a charitable trust does not exist.

A statement from Conservative Central Office said “Since the trust has not been set up, it will not be included in future registers of members’ interests. Any speaking fees, etcetera, are therefore given to local charities.”
