New £3m foundation from unclaimed Halifax shares

A new grant-making trust is to be launched this Spring from the Halifax bank which will make grants of £3m a year. The endowment is funded from the shares of former members of the building society who have not claimed their shares. About 145,000 people have failed to claim their shares, worth an estimated £170m.
