Chancellor Gordon Brown will today present the Government’s target of an extra one million volunteers as part of the move towards government decentralisation.

Chancellor Gordon Brown will today present the Government’s target of an extra one million volunteers as part of the move towards government decentralisation. He is to announce a £300m package today to support the voluntary sector and promote volunteering, particularly among people over 50.

Not all of this money is new: it includes the £70m for the Children’s Fund announced last year.
