US non-profit Cry Inc reports that it has raised $150,000 in online donations through its 60-page Web site. Their secure server allows donors to give online via their credit cards.

US non-profit Cry Inc reports that it has raised $150,000 in online donations through its 60-page Web site. Their secure server allows donors to give online via their credit cards.

Program Director Meera Rao told subscribers to the Online Fundraising e-mail list how the system worked: “When people donate online, there is an automatic receipt that is generated immediately, with the thank you note and the details of the donation. This is the only letter the donors get for credit card donations, and is the legal document they use to support their write-off claims.”

She added: “We have had this in place for over a year and have had no major troubles, either electronically or otherwise. Minor ones like duplicate entries, entry errors etc are taken care of by me, and occur very rarely, less than 1% of the time.”
