International aid agency Children’s Aid Direct has launched a series of multi-activity overseas expeditions in extreme environments such as arctic, desert, jungle and high altitude.
Mark Davey, Children’s Aid Direct’s Expedition Series organiser, said: “Our expeditions, all to extreme environments, go one step further than doing just one type of activity in one location. They are taking people a little outside of their comfort zone, but with commitment to training for a few months and a moderate level of fitness, all of the expeditions are achievable. Each of our expeditions involve an element of training and tuition.”

Why did CAD choose these fundraising events? Mr Davey said: “We carried out research amongst leaders from our UK Mountain Challenge events, our supporters and also amongst cold contacts. We chose most of our event locations according to the majority of respondents’ preferences. We also picked the length of the expeditions according to the timespan preferred by the largest group of respondents.”
