Professional Fundraising article on Internet fundraising
Patrick McCurry reports on Internet fundraising developments in this month’s Professional Fundraising magazine. He reports that Oxfam GB now regularly e-mails 20,000 supporters. Scope has teamed up with online shopping site Free2give and sees “initial return from the arrangement in hundreds of pounds rather than thousands.” Scope also earns a donation from Yorkshire Electricity for every supporter that signs up online for their gas supply.
Gareth Edwards offers a twelve-point check list for assessing Internet-fundraising related ventures and offers. Sarah Norris, Head of New Media at CAF, argues that “many charities have been disappointed with the Internet but they haven’t been proactive enough in marketing tools like online donations to their supporters, or linking offline communications with the more detailed information they can provide on their Web site.”
