Simply not the best – ICFM warns of street collection fraud

Howard Lake | 21 October 1999 | News

ICFM is warning its members of a new street collection fraud. Street collectors are collecting in the Euston area of London on behalf of BEST, the Benevolent Ex-Servicemen’s Trust. The Charity Commission confirmed to ICFM that no such charity is registered with them. ICFM recommends that you inform local police if you come across any other sightings.

Given Euston is just around the corner from the Directory of Social Change’s Charity Centre, which is frequented weekly by hundreds of charity staff attending training courses, let’s hope that the fraudsters get caught out by trying to fundraise from real fundraisers.
