Comic Relief have already a legal threat, as reported by UK Fundraising last month, but now they are on the receiving end of a boycott. A Roman Catholic primary school headmaster has “banned Red Nose Day” at his school because of Comic Relief’s funding of family planning charities.

Comic Relief have already a legal threat, as reported by UK Fundraising last month, but now they are on the receiving end of a boycott. A Roman Catholic primary school headmaster has “banned Red Nose Day” at his school because of Comic Relief’s funding of family planning charities. Not surprisingly, his action has been widely reported by the national press and radio. Comic Relief state that since 1985 less than 1% of their grants have been given to family planning charities. The charity has received criticisms in the past from some campaigners who claim that Comic Relief pays for abortions, an allegation that the charity categorically denies.
