Web store's alternative to children fundraising door-to-door

In February this year UK Fundraising reported on the murder of a child involved in house-to-house fundraising for their school in the US. A couple in Virginia have now set up a fundraising Web site to help reduce the need for children to raise funds by knocking door-to-door. Charles and Meryem Grammick have set up Sports4Kids “to keep children safe while helping schools raise money”.

The site is another example of a Web-based referral programme. Five per cent of the sales of sports equipment generated by a school directing customers to the site is donated to the school. So far this year schools have received $5,000 from the store.
