Snap! encourages virtual volunteering

Howard Lake | 2 October 1998 | News

Impact Online has teamed up with US online directory Snap! to provide free links to volunteer nonprofits throughout the US. The main page of the directory now includes a “Volunteer Opportunities” link. Visitors can then find out about current volunteer opportunities in their neighbourhood. Over 5,000 nonprofit groups will now have their information published in this way. These include Red Cross, Salvation Army, regional chapters of the United Way and local food banks.
The details are provided by Impact Online, the nonprofit organisation that has pioneered Internet-based “virtual volunteering” over the past three years.

Given that Snap! is owned and operated by CNET and NBC, this is a significant and impressive development for Impact Online.
