International development agency Actionaid is planning to create a “cyber-sponsorship information bank” to help keep the donors who sponsor individual children in the Third World informed of developments.

An IT workshop held by Actionaid in Bangalore concluded that “Actionaid is data-rich, but knowledge poor.” The organisation plans to develop a global intranet to hold text, graphics, sound and video on each sponsored child. Sponsors and staff will then be able to keep up to date on projects.
