E-mail fundraising campaign hit by Internet Urban Legend
A US publisher’s e-mail fundraising campaign is over but an online rumour suggests that it isn’t, thereby causing difficulty for the company.
Houghton Mifflin Publishing Corporation used to run the Polar Express scheme promoted on their Web site whereby they would donate books to children’s hospitals if they received a certain number of e-mail messages. The campaign is over but an Internet Urban Legend mistakenly suggests that the scheme is still going.
Houghton Mifflin are explaining the current status of the campaign at the Polar Express site.
