easyfundraising has now raised £3 million

Charity shopping website easyfundraising.org.uk has now give away more than £3 million to thousands of good causes since it was established in 2005. Each online purchase raises an average of 5% of the total spend for the shopper’s favourite cause.
It was a £3.50 charity donation from an online purchase that helped tip the site over the £3 million mark. The purchase on Amazon was made by Rem Lee, who chose Emsworth Primary School in Hampshire, as her selected good cause. As a thank you, the school has been awarded £300 in Amazon vouchers.
Gary Thompson, managing director of easyfundraising.org.uk, expressed his delight at reaching the milestone and thanked all the good causes and their supporters for making it happen. He added: “In these economically challenging times it is very hard for charities to think of inventive fundraising ideas.”
The site’s growth rate is increasing: last year it raised more than £1 million for good causes and signed up 10,000 new causes, a 34% increase on the previous year. There are now over 30,000 organisations benefiting from the site, from charities to schools, sports clubs, scout groups and other smaller good causes.
