Halifax N Ireland grant giving continues
The Halifax Foundation in Northern Ireland says its grant giving functions will continue despite their offices closing because of the coronavirus outbreak.
“We will consider applications supporting the community at this time of crisis and endeavour to get funds out quickly”, the Foundation’s executive director Brenda McMullan said.
Ms McMullan said the Foundation understood that coronavirus will present a number of challenges to the charities which they support throughout Northern Ireland over the coming weeks and months and that charities will be an even more crucial support mechanism than ever in these unprecedented times in providing both practical and emotional support and tackling isolation.

Referring to existing grant holders, the Foundation said they wanted to ensure that they can support organisations in any way that they can which will include flexibility around funding and reporting.
The Halifax Foundation NI say they will be reasonable if grant holders need to request budget changes to ensure their projects can continue and they will consider any project extension requests sympathetically. Moreover, if charities think they will struggle to meet end of project evaluation deadline they can get in touch to request an extension.
Ms McMullan said their offices are now operating remotely but if charities need to get in touch they can email at ad***@*****************ni.org and they will endeavour to answer all queries and requests as quickly as possible. Both our small and medium grant programmes are open for applications.
Earlier this month the Foundation announced that they had awarded £133,571. During 2018, the Foundation provided 568 grants across all grant programmes totalling £1,238,340 while the average grant awarded was £3,571.
