Alder Hey Imagine Appeal is Grand National charity for sixth year
For the sixth year running Alder Hey Imagine Appeal has been chosen as the official charity of the John Smith’s Grand National, which takes place from 7 to 9 April 2011.
For the past few years, Stephen Roberts, Chair of the Liverpool Hoteliers Association and Manager of Crowne Plaza, has been encouraging the North West’s top hotels to get behind the Imagine Appeal. Together they have helped to raise over £10,000 by inviting their race-going customers to add a voluntary £1 donation to their bill.
Roberts said: “All of our customers have been happy to give; we’ve even had some wanting to give even more! Last year we had a certain jockey staying at The Crowne Plaza who insisted we bump up the donation to £50 instead of £1.”
Alder Hey is Europe’s largest and busiest children’s hospital, providing family-focused care for around 250,000 young patients every year.
