Co-op raises £3.7m for RNID

Howard Lake | 10 February 2011 | News

The Co-operative has raised £3.7 million for deafness and hearing loss charity RNID, its charity of the year, beating its original £2 million fundraising target.
This is a record donation for RNID, and the largest amount ever raised for one charity by The Co-operative’s family of businesses, including food retail, banking and insurance, travel, pharmacy and funerals.
The money was raised throughout the year by thousands of Co-operative staff from a variety of events and activities from cycles, walks, mountain climbs, parachute jumps and a Santa Dash. The money will fund the expansion of the charity’s Hear to Help service. Hear to Help trains volunteers, many of whom have a hearing loss, to provide support to hearing aid users in their local communities.
