Rural projects to benefit from Scotland-wide events

The Scottish National Rural Network is organising a series of events in March and April to give people in rural Scotland the chance to visit a community project that is working towards similar goals to their own organisation. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas and learn from the experiences of other rural groups.
Visits are open to anybody in rural Scotland who is working as part of a project, initiative or enterprise in their local community in one of the five chosen themes. There will be no fee to attend and the Rural Network will provide all meals and overnight accommodation. There will also be some limited support available for travelling expenses.
The project visits are:
* Environment and Renewable Energy – Comrie Development Trust, Perthshire – Friday 4th March
* Tourism – Dunnet Head Educational Trust, Caithness – Tuesday 15th March
* Food and Drink – Taste of Arran, Isle of Arran – Thursday 24th March
* Village Halls and Community Buildings – Whitsome Ark, Berwickshire – Thursday 31st March
* Community Enterprise – The CatStrand, Dumfries & Galloway – Wednesday 6th April
Rural Network Regional Coordinator Matt Tyrer said “Throughout our last series of rural events we discovered a real appetite for the kind of idea sharing that can happen by visiting other projects”.
The deadline for applications is 6 February 2011.
