Big Lottery Fund gives £14.6 million to 49 projects across England

The Big Lottery Fund has announced grants of more than £14.6 million to 49 projects across England from its Reaching Communities programme.
Diabetes UK will today receive £413,722 to continue its ‘The Diabetes UK Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow’ throughout England. The two-year project will visit 70 of the most at-risk areas of England using specially adapted lorries that convert into fully accessible venues for presentations and one to one meetings.
Missing People receives £499,517 to enable it to trial a new national telephone counselling helpline for families. New figures from Missing People show that last year there were over 330,000 incidents of people going missing, a third more than the previous estimate.
Sanjay Dighe, England Committee Chair Big Lottery Fund, said: “The festive season is a period of joy for so many, but also the season when there is much sadness with people missing and worries about the future. I’m therefore delighted that this month the Big Lottery Fund is able to support 49 organisations including Missing People who work so closely with people throughout the year to help make a positive difference to their lives.”
