The Veolia Environmental Trust is urging voluntary organisations to enter its Veolia cre8 funding challenge with details of their creative community schemes that will involve volunteers and bring generations together.
The Trust, which awards grants through the Landfill Communities Fund, has introduced Veolia cre8 “to help adventurous, exciting and ambitious projects get off to a flying start”.
The Trust’s Executive Director, Margaret Cobbold, said: “We have introduced Veolia cre8 to help larger, more creative and ambitious projects from constituted groups that will see volunteers of all ages and backgrounds improve or create public amenities and leave a legacy for everyone to use and enjoy”.
The application process is now open and ends in July 2011 when the Trust selects four schemes to receive a maximum grant of £300,000 each.
To qualify for a grant, a project must meet eight objectives. It needs to involve volunteers, bring generations together, involve the community, help improve health and well-being, have benefits for everyone, leave a legacy, allow those involved to develop new skills, and be fun for all involved.
Schemes from a large part of the UK are eligible. They also need to be located within 10 miles of a licensed landfill (active or historic) and meet the ./guidance of Entrust, the Trust’s regulator.
The closing date for telling the Trust about a proposed project is 1 December 2010.
