Guardian survey finds that executive pay keeps rising
I rarely read a newspaper during the week, so news alerts can be handy. The latest Business in the Community free newsletter mentions a report in The Guardian (www.guardian.co.uk) on executive pay. Apparently, the full and part-time directors of the FTSE 100 recently shared between them more than £1 billion, and Bart Becht, the chief executive of Reckitt Benckiser, received £36.8 million in pay, bonuses, perks and share incentive schemes. You can download a spreadsheet with some of the information from The Guardian website.
If you carry on rummaging, using plc annual reports (via company, stock exchange websites, or sharedealing websites like Digital Look), you can get some useful information on well paid directors, and their shareholdings. Local newspapers often list plc companies in their area, which can help you if you are a local/regional charity, or working on a local/regional appeal.
