Diabetes UK is the winner of the first Everyclick.com Charity Challenge, and receives a major national outdoor advertising campaign on over 1,500 sites across the UK donated by Clear Channel Outdoor.
Everyclick launched its Charity Challenge in January 2008. Charities had to encourage their supporters to raise as much as possible via its search engine in three months. The winners were judged on their total income and the innovative and imaginative ways in which they encouraged their supporters and the public to use Everyclick.
There were three categories in the awards, according to the size of a charity’s donor base. Diabetes UK was the winner of the large charities category and the overall competition, securing the free advertising campaign across the UK. The first runner up was small charity winner, The Arnold Foundation for Rugby School, which has won a local Clear Channel Outdoor campaign. The second runner up was the medium-sized charity winner, Cystic Fibrosis, which has won free advertising on Everyclick.com.
The competition attracted 550 entrants. The judges were Polly Gowers (Founder, Everyclick.com), Pip Hainsworth (Marketing Director, Clear Channel Outdoor UK), Lindsay Boswell (CEO, The Institute of Fundraising) and Daniel Farey-Jones (News Editor, Brand Republic).
Diabetes UK’s posters will feature on Clear Channel Outdoor sites across the UK from July 2008.
As well as its search engine, allowing users to search for information and specifying the UK charity they would like to support through their searches, Everyclick.com recently launched an online donation service. This allows supporters to donate online to any UK charity of their choice. Everyclick say that it is “the first such service that is available to every single UK charity”.
The Everyclick Charity Challenge will return in 2009.
