Text donations service launched for China and Burma

Howard Lake | 26 May 2008 | News

Dublin-based mobile marketing company Púca has launched a new text-based service to help the disaster relief efforts under way in China’s Sichuan province and in Myanmar (Burma). The text fundraising initiative, which is called TXT-AID, will run for two weeks. It is being supported by Ireland’s four mobile network operators: Vodafone, O2, Meteor and 3. Mobile users can make an instant donation by sending the keyword AID to the SMS short code 57500. The proceeds will be distributed in full amongst four aid organisations – Irish Red Cross, Oxfam Ireland, Trócaire and Concern Worldwide – which are providing help to the hundreds of thousands of people affected by the earthquake in China and the cyclone in Myanmar.
