Online donation function raises £0.5m for workplace giving

Howard Lake | 7 February 2008 | News

More than £500,000 has been raised for over 500 charities via the ‘donate now’ function at the Workplace Giving website.
The function allows employees signed up to the scheme to use the online facility to make their donations. More than 1,500 have signed up to the facility with an average donation of £15.02 a month. Recent research by Oxfam and YouGov found that a third of British employees would give an average of £9.80 a month through their salary if they knew how to.
Workplace giving is one of the most tax-efficient ways for employees to give with a deduction made from gross pay to the charity of their choice. There is no tax for the charity to claim back as it is automatically deducted.
