Blue Peter launches appeal for unwanted CDs and DVDs
This year’s CBBC Blue Peter Appeal, in aid of Barnardo’s, is asking children across the UK to donate unwanted CDs, DVDs and computer games.
The Blue Peter Disc Drive, which launches on-air today, aims to secure 250,000 donated discs for the charity, which will then be sold in Barnardo’s nationwide network of shops.
Appeal supporters, or ‘Disc Drivers’, are being invited to take their unwanted discs, that must be in saleable condition, to any Barnardo’s shop, Lloyds TSB branch or local BBC Radio Station. Schools are also being encouraged to get involved and act as drop-off points for the appeal.

Martin Narey, Barnardo’s Chief Executive, said: “We are thrilled to be the beneficiaries of this year’s Blue Peter Appeal and hope that its viewers will really get behind this exciting initiative. We want them to be moved by the plight of young carers and we want them to be certain that the money they raise will help to change the lives of these young people and their families.”
