New Canadian voluntary sector research association

Howard Lake | 19 October 2007 | News

A new voluntary sector research association is being established in Canada. ANSER, the Association for Nonprofit and Social Economy Research, is for those who have an interest in “research that pertains broadly to nonprofit organisations and the social economy”.

ANSER aims to build a collaborative community of scholars and researchers, and to develop a Canadian body of knowledge that encompasses fields such as community economic development, philanthropy, nonprofits management, volunteering, social and environmental accounting, government/voluntary sector relationships, social movements, citizen engagement, and civil society.

The group’s inaugural conference will be part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences 2008 which takes place from 4-6 June 2008 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
