Arts and Business present award to the Pleasance

Anthony Alderson, Director of Edinburgh’s biggest Fringe venue, The Pleasance, will collect a special Award at the prestigious Arts & Business Scottish Awards ceremony hosted by broadcaster Janice Forsyth at the Edinburgh Festival Theatre on 19th September.

The Tartan Ribbon Award has been created by Arts & Business to celebrate the long relationship between The Pleasance and Waverley Care, which spans 17 years and has yielded over £140,000 for the charity’s work through a combination of bucket shaking and an annual Tartan Ribbon Comedy Benefit.

As well as generating income for Waverley Care, the relationship helps to raise awareness of HIV and also demonstrates the commitment of The Pleasance, as a London-based organisation, to benefiting the local community in which it operates for the four weeks of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Waverley Care’s tartan ribbon is a common sight on the lapels of Fringe-goers, largely thanks to this relationship.
