Air ambulance appeal for car crash boy raises £26,758 via Justgiving

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance has far exceeded its target of £1,000 in raising funds for eight-year-old Martin Gilbert who was the sole survivor of a car crash on the AI in his his mother, her partner, and his two younger brothers were killed. He was taken to hospital by the air ambulance.
The appeal, dubbed “the Miracle Appeal”, was facilitated by a fundraising page on Justgiving.com, and it raised almost £12,000 in its first 48 hours, primarily because of the large media attention in the young boy’s story. The web page was set up the day after the accident.
This total has now jumped to £26,758, of which £2,599 was raised offline and £4,922 of which consists of Gift Aid reclaimed by Justgiving.

The appeal was led by Martin Eede, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, who gave the first donation, £100, himself.
