Lidl Northern Ireland announces 33 winners for 2016 Community Works

Thirty-three community groups across Northern Ireland have won support from Lidl Northern Ireland’s Community Works.
Community Works helps community projects in need of funding and assistance, and over 4000 applications were received this year. Each of the 33 winning groups will receive a visit from the Lidl Community Crew over the next six months, helping with fundraising events, presenting food demonstrations and delivering goodie bags.
The winning groups include Eco Tots, an education programme for children about growing nutritional produce in Newtownabbey; Enable NI, a support group for young people with disabilities in Armagh; RNLI’s lifeboat station in Portrush; and Oak Healthy Living Centre, a centre for people with addiction and mental health issues in Lisnaskea.
As well as visiting the 33 winning groups, the Community Crew will also visit a number of events, local Lidl stores and runner-up groups with surprise treats and goodies. To mark 2016 being the Northern Ireland Year of Food & Drink and to celebrate the local producers Lidl works with, food will be the central focus at each of the events, and Lidl’s Chef Ambassador, Ian Orr, will also be making an appearance at some of them. Last year, Lidl Community Works invested over £250,000 in community groups across Northern Ireland.

“We received over 4000 nominations, a record for the campaign which is now in its third year; proving that there are still so many groups in need of support and we’re delighted to step in and continue to help where we can.”
