DSC asks users for views on future of governmentfunding site
The Directory of Social Change is asking users of its governmentfunding.org.uk website for their views on how the site will continue to pay its way.
The Directory of Social Change launched the site in September 2003 with funding from the Home Office Active Communities Unit and is now funded by the Office of the Third Sector within the Cabinet Office. It features news on grants from six government departments including the Home Office and Department for Education and Skills.
Since its launch it has been free to access, but DSC is now considering how to fund it after the initial funding ends. It is therefore asking its users for their views on whether they would be willing to pay to use the site in future, with options from not at all to £150 or more a year. They are also asked if they would be willing for the site to carry paid advertising to help reduce any future fee.

The survey also asks if users would be prepared to pay if DSC enhanced the site with “nformation on funding from all central government departments, executive agencies, and local government.
The survey asks how many people in the user’s organisation use the site, and which elements of the site would users most want to retain if they had to pay to use it.
