Aberdeenshire charities invited to apply for funds from Students' Charities Campaign

Howard Lake | 18 August 2006 | News

The Students’ Charities Campaign is inviting applications from charities serving Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to share in the funds it has raised.

The Campaign involves students from Aberdeen University, The Robert Gordon University and Aberdeen College. It raises money each year through events, supermarket bag packing and other activities, and last year made grants totalling £50,000 in amounts of between £50 and £5,000 to 77 local charities.

This year the Campaign is ensuring that it complies with charity law by informing the public of which charities will benefit from its grants before they hand over the cash. As a result charities now need to apply for funds before the fundraising events get underway.
