Indiegogo launches platform for charity and personal fundraising

Howard Lake | 30 October 2015 | News

Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has announced Generosity, a new service specifically for personal fundraising, charities and “socially conscious causes”.
The service grew out of the Indiegogo Life initiative.
Indiegogo describe Generosity as “a place to leverage your network to find help for yourself, a friend, or even a stranger—a place to raise both money and awareness for the people and causes you care about most”.

“Generosity is about compassion, not fees”

Indiegogo is keen to distinguish Generosity from other personal and nonprofit crowdfunding sites. It points out that the platform does not charge fees.

One strikingly successful campaign run recently on the main Indiegogo site was for single father of two, Abdul, a Palestinian Syrian refugee, following pictures of him selling pens in the street in Beirut to support his family. The campaign reached its target of $5,000 within 30 minutes.
