New balls please, for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

Howard Lake | 15 June 2015 | News

The Brands Hatch site of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is making the rather unusual request for people and businesses to donate tennis balls.
The timing is ace, given that the Queens Club tennis championships get underway this week. The tennis balls are need to entertain an influx of Jack Russell terriers, who love playing with the balls. Since the start of this year the rescue centre has taken in 38 Jack Russell Terriers and currently has a set of 13 in its care.

Ali Taylor, Head of Canine Welfare Training at Battersea, said:

“The ball is in our court at Battersea to love and care for the 5,000 dogs who come into our centres every year and keep them fit, healthy and entertained whilst they wait for their perfect home”.

She hopes that the balls will keep the racquet down in the kennels, while each dog awaits its own love match when someone chooses to adopt them.
Until then, donations of balls, whether singles or doubles, would be welcomed by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
