Give as You Live partners with Sainsbury’s Everyday Shopping Card

Howard Lake | 28 April 2015 | News

Online affiliate fundraising site Give as you Live has made its first offline partnership, working with Sainsbury’s everyday Shopping card. Shoppers can generate a donation of 4% for every £1 spent instore at Sainsbury’s for their favourite charity.
As with Give as you Live’s online merchant partners, such donations cost the shopper nothing: they are made by Give as you Live from the commission paid by the merchant.
The card will be released in May 2015 so Give as you Live is inviting charities to register their interest at this stage, with a view to planning how to promote it to their supporters.

Everyday Shopping Card portal

Give as you Live has created the online portal for the Everyday Shopping Card and will manage the scheme with charities.
Users will be able to upload cash and check their card balance, while Give as you Live’s technology will ensure that donations are credited to the charity of their choice.
Give as you Live will also support charities in promoting the Everyday Shopping Card to its supporter base by providing a communication toolkit that includes email marketing and social media material.
Annabelle Risdon, Head of Charities at Give as you Live, said:

“The average weekly grocery shop is over £100, which means there is a huge opportunity for charities to receive an additional £200 a year per supporter from their supermarket shopping. This partnership is hugely exciting and expands our portfolio of fundraising products that help boost a charity’s revenue stream through innovative technology. The scheme is the first time shoppers can support charities through Give as you Live offline”.
