10 more corporate fundraising partnerships in June 2014
Here is another selection of corporate fundraising partnerships and campaigns underway in June 2014.
1. Jurys Inn and several charities
Almost 600 Jurys Inn employees aimed to raise £50,000 for charity on 20 June, with plans to walk, run, cycle, swim, golf and abseil their way through the Group’s 100 mile Charity Challenge.
Jurys Inn CEO John Brennan pledged to donate an additional £25,000. Monies raised by the Hotels group will be split between a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Make a Wish Foundation, and Action for Children, and several local charities chosen by employees.
2. Royal & Awesome and Sparks
A 72-hole golf challenge, sponsored by Scottish clothing brand Royal & Awesome, has raised more than £20,000 for the children’s medical research charity Sparks.
Almost 50 golfers completed four rounds in a day at the 110-year-old Fulwell Golf Club, Twickenham, while wearing eye-catching outfits provided by Royal & Awesome.

3. Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival and Seafarers UK and Sea Cadets
The Royal Borough of Greenwich has announced that Seafarers UK and Sea Cadets will be the official charity partners for the Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival 2014. They were chosen for their work in supporting both the maritime community at large and young people seeking new skills.
4. AGS Gumball Rally Challenge and Rainbow Trust
The Rainbow Trust is one of the charities benefiting from this month’s AGS Gumball Rally Challenge. All cars taking part must be at least 20 years old. A maximum of 60 cars are taking part, and participants have to raise at least £2,000 for a charity.
The first stage on 27 June involves driving form Thurrock to Cologne (325 miles).
5. UBM and Giving World
Global communications company UBM invited Giving World, which helps distribute surplus products to charities, to be its charity partner at the Facilities Show at London’s ExCeL. Giving World works with a wide range of facilities management professionals to source and distribute products.
6. Specsavers and Kidscape
Specsavers is supporting Kidscape for the eighth year in a row as charity partner in its Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.
The aim of the competition is to find specs-wearing champions across the UK – ordinary people who look amazing in their glasses. To enter just upload a picture of yourself wearing glasses to the SWOTY website at . It is free to enter, and for each entry Specsavers will donate £1 to Kidscape.
7. British Airways and Comic Relief
British Airways’ Flying Start Ball has raised more than £18,000 for the airline’s charity partner Comic Relief.
The Summer Ball has raised more than £80,000 for Comic Relief since its launch in 2010.
This year’s event, held at Heathrow’s Marriott Hotel on 20 June and hosted by Eastenders star Shane Richie, included entertainment from X Factor winner Sam Bailey, BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James and Oriste Williams from JLS. Guests were served Taittinger champagne and Villa Maria wine.
8. D-Link and WaterAid
D-Link has partnered with WaterAid to transform the lives of families in developing countries by making a donation for every product from the EyeOn™ Baby Monitor range sold in Europe.
Kevin Wen, President of D-Link Europe Ltd, said:
“The EyeOn™ Baby Monitor range gives parents peace of mind by letting them watch over their baby easily and securely on their mobile device. But for many parents in developing countries, just providing fundamental basics like clean water and sanitation can be the biggest struggle. We want to do what we can to help change this, which is why we’ve partnered with WaterAid.”
9. KCOM Group and Sparks
Employees at KCOM Group will be taking on several fundraising challenges to raise money for the company’s charity partner Sparks.
These include the company’s tenth annual charity golf day which brings together customers, partners and celebrity sportsmen to play 27 holes at Forest Pines Golf Club in North Lincolnshire. Last year this raised £36,000.
Other staff will be embarking on is a four day, 300 mile cycling challenge across Italy from Venice to Genoa.
10. intu Metrocentre and Children’s Heart Unit Fund at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital
Gateshead’s intu Metrocentre has unveiled The Heart of A Thousand Crystals in its Platinum Mall. It features hundreds of crystals made into one huge, glittering heart.
A thousand replica crystals have been created – each one individually boxed and numbered – and are now being sold for £20 each at customer service desks around the centre.
All proceeds from the sale of the replica crystals will be used to support the Children’s Heart Unit Fund and its Home from Home appeal, which is raising £2m to set up a special unit at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital, where the families of children being treated can stay, free of charge.
