Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent has launched a new printer cartridge recycling scheme to raise funds. To make it stand out from other charity recycling initiatives the charity is branding it not green but fuchsia, the charity’s trademark colour.

Interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is supporting the charity promote the new appeal, adding: “Recycling is no longer just a green issue – its fuchsia.”

For every printer ink cartridge returned, the charity will receive £1.

The scheme is targeted at families as well as small businesses, as it is cartridges from ordinary inkjet and laser printers, namly those commonly used in the home, that are worth the most to the charity.

Bridget Matthews, Special Projects Manager, CLIC Sargent, says: Only 12% of printer ink cartridges used in the UK are recycled. Considering this scheme costs the consumer nothing, there really is no excuse not to get involved. People simply have to pop their used print cartridges into one of our special freepost bags, and drop them in the post box.”
