DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal reaches £65m

Howard Lake | 27 November 2013 | News

The amount donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s (DEC) Philippines typhoon appeal has now passed £65 million.
DEC member agencies and their partners report that they have now delivered aid to more than 700,000 people across affected areas of the Philippines, using both funds raised by the DEC and  support from  other sources.
DEC Chief Executive Saleh Saeed said:

“The response by the UK public to this appeal has been nothing short of extraordinary.
“People’s continued generosity and compassion means member agencies are already getting assistance to those who need it most… Over 13 million people have been affected by the disaster, more than the population of London and Birmingham combined, and a third of these have been displaced from their homes. It is vital that people continue to give if we are to help save more lives.”
