Grants from Asian businesses help North East organisations

Asian businesses in the North East have funded grants totalling £3,500 to charities providing help for health, homelessness and young people, in the latest round of funding from the Asian Fund.
The money was distributed by the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland, which set up the Asian Fund in 2005 to co-ordinate giving back to local communities by Asian businesses in the region. Grants ranged from £500 to £1,000.
The fund has now made total grants of over £28,000 to over 40 groups. People from all backgrounds have benefited from the scheme.

The Newcastle-based Community Foundation is the UK’s biggest community foundation. It has built an endowment of more than £50 million from philanthropists giving money to the various funds it holds.
It acts as a hub for individuals, families, businesses and other agencies that want to give to communities, by matching their interests with those seeking funding.
