ICT hub website budget raises concerns
The budget of £246,950 to build the Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub’s website, as detailed in the recently published hub business plan, has sparked criticism from some IT experts, according to Third Sector.
Stuart Johnson, managing director of ichameleon, the web strategy company, said he would be”staggered” if a client in the private or voluntary sector had asked him to develop a website for even half of the figure contained in the business plan.
However, Nicky Thompson, hub project manager, justified the budget’s size in the Lasa online forum, pointing out that it was a major project involving new content, a knowledge base, and a supplier directory.

The publication of the hub’s business plan has drawn a number of criticisms of the way in which ChangeUp money awarded by the Home Office will be spent. Two thirds of the £4 million allocated will be used by the five core partners awarded
the funding, namely NCVO, NACVS, AbilityNet, Lasa and IT4Communities.
