Charlton Park School for the Disabled in south east London have learned that someone is misuing their name by fundraising to replace a pony that they say has died.

The Greenwich Mercury reports that all of the organisation’s ponies are alive and well.

The alarm was raised after a one of the charity’s volunteers learned of a fundraising letter sent to a local supermarket, allegedly on behalf of the school.

Chairwoman Carol Kendall is concerned that other letters have been sent. “We rely on fundraising, so this undermines our work”, she said. “If people do receive this begging letter we want them to know it is not from us.”
