Conservative Party uses SMS for fundraising
The Conservative Party is to launch a weekly SMS service for supporters at £1.50 per message with the proceeds generating income for the organisation.
Brand Republic reports that the service will be run by Metacharge. Messages could range from “news about polling to criticisms of other political parties or even specific messages from individual shadow cabinet members.” It could also be a message from Boris Johnson MP alerting supporters to a particular column of his in The Daily Telegraph.
The party’s director of income generation Mike Chattey said “our aim is to broaden the base of our fundraising.”
