New code of practice on workplace giving

The Institute of Fundraising has launched a new code of fundraising practice called ‘Committed Giving in the Workplace’.
The new Code covers best practice and the law for all forms of committed giving within the workplace, namely payroll giving, direct debits and post tax ’round-up’ schemes where employees’ donations come from rounding
down/up the “odd pennies” from their pay. It therefore replaces the code of practice on payroll giving.
It can be downloaded at no charge as an Adobe Acrobat PDF from the Institute’s Web site.

Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute, said: “The development of this Code represents the maturing of the Codes of Fundraising Practice. It goes further than the Code of Fundraising practice, ‘Payroll Giving’, which it replaces by giving comprehensive ./guidance on all forms of giving in the workplace. With the impending advent of self-regulation, the Codes of Fundraising Practice will come under increasing scrutiny and the further development of Codes of Fundraising Practice is crucial.”
