Shortlist for Charity Awards 2004 announced

The shortlist of charities for this year’s Charity Awards includes well-known names as well as innovators.
The fifth annual Charity Awards will be presented on 17 June 2004 in London to honour the work and achievements of UK charities and the people behind them.
Charities shortlisted for the 10 awards include the 24 Hour Museum, Britain’s first and only national, virtual museum; Terrence Higgins Trust for its project in Coventry providing sexual health services for sex workers; Nightstop UK for its work providing emergency accommodation for young homeless people; Carr-Gomm for its holistic package of support, training and learning opportunities for vulnerable people in Manchester; and RNID for a campaign that achieved the first public sector reform of the NHS by any voluntary sector organisation.

The Charity Awards are organised by Charity Finance magazine, the business publication for the voluntary sector.
The judges panel includes Sir Nicholas Young, Chief Executive of the British Red Cross; Ian Allsop, editor of Charity Finance magazine; and Judith Hill, head of community and charity at law firm Farrer and Co.
As well as awards to charities, the judges will also make a special presentation to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to excellence in charity management.
