Call for evidence from draft Gambling Bill Committee

Howard Lake | 21 November 2003 | News

The Joint Committee on the Draft Gambling Bill is calling for written evidence to be submitted on the latest sections and policy information to be published.

Following the publication by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport of around 50 draft clauses in July 2003, further sections and policy information regarding the Draft Gambling Bill have now been issued. The Joint Committee, chaired by John Greenway MP, is calling for written evidence from interested organisations and individuals to be submitted by 10 December 2003.

The Draft Gambling Bill is relevant to charities because it will cover Society lotteries, prize competitions, remote e.g. online gambling, and other activities undertaken by many charities. Equally, it will cover the protection of children and vulnerable persons with regard to gambling, a direct concern of several charities.
