Charity beneficiary says thank you with a Triathlon challenge

Howard Lake | 25 June 2003 | News

Richard Sadler, who spent four months in a home in London run by children’s charity NCH as a baby before being adopted, is doing the London Triathlon on Sunday 3 August to raise funds for NCH.

This is the first time 34 year-old Richard has done the London Triathlon and he is maximising the challenge by entering for the harder of the two entry options – the ‘Olympic’, which takes the form of a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run.

Sales Manager Richard, who lives in Crowle, Worcestershire, is training 6 days a week – consisting of 1 hour each of wimming, running and cycling.

“I am still looking for more sponsorship – it is always great to be able to do something for NCH, due to my personal links with the charity.”

NCH provides active support for its sponsored event fundraisers. For example, those entering the London Triathlon for NCH will receive:

  • regular ‘how to’ training fact sheets and a step-by-step preparation guide
  • personalised running vest and ASICS running shoes
  • fundraising support pack
  • post-race reception with massage
  • Ongoing support and advice from the NCH team
