RNID Scotland chooses hot date for fundraising event
RNID Scotland has chosen 25 January, Burns Night, for its fundraising Fire Walk challenge.
The 50 participants will each need to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship of which £100 will go directly to RNID. All Fire Walk participants will attend a motivational seminar designed to equip them with the resources to walk unharmed across 20 feet of burning embers. RNID Scotland is clearly confident that everyone will come through unscathed, as all Fire Walkers will be given free entry to an accompanying fundraising Ceilidh.
Ann Brown, RNID Scotland’s Fundraising Manager, says that it will be an opportunity for participants to raise money for charity while taking on a unique personal challenge. “Walking 20ft over wood embers burning at approximately 1200 degrees Fahrenheit (648.88 degrees Celsius) is a truly mind-blowing feet, that will require significant will and determination, but what better way can there possibly be to start a New Year?”

Let’s hope no-one gets their fingers – or anything else – burned with this fundraising event. RNID point out that the event is being run by Blaze Events and they handle all the indemnity and insurance. The company also carry out a full risk assessment beforehand, and all participants are asked to sign disclaimers.
