Charity shop in cover-up
A charity shop in West Sussex has had to cover up a donated painting of a male nude in the front window following a complaint to the police from a passer-by.
The Sussex Beacon charity shop in Hove received a visit from two police officers, and agreed to cover it up. A vase successfully prevented any future passers-by from being shocked. According to the shop staff, this contributed to its sale for just £29.99 when they expected it to make £99.
Let’s hope the complainant doesn’t find out about the extensive range of nude fundraising calendars used by charities in the UK and in other countries.
