Ian Kerr of Midas Charity Appeals suggests that listening to donors does, of course, pay off.

“A few months ago I went back to an ex-client hoping for new business. I was dripping smiles and bonhomie until they said “You only taught us one thing – ask our donors advice on everything!”

“One particular donor suggested that a small plaque was put in the room his trust paid for. He explained that he did not want recognition, but others might, and the plaque would be a catalyst. Others did, and my smile returned!”
