Irisbus loans back-up bus for marathon fundraising cycle

Howard Lake | 24 August 2002 | News

Irisbus loaned a Daily MiniBus to cyclists riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise £20,000 for the Who Cares? Trust.

The vehicle met up with the cyclists at regular intervals throughout each stage. It also transported each of the riders back home after the 1,100 mile journey.

Gail Timmis, the volunteer organiser of the event which took place during June and July 2002, said: “without the loan of the Daily MiniBus the ride would have been considerably less successful – it would have cost more to complete and we wouldn’t have raised as much money.

“The distinctive blue Daily stood out from all the other vehicles on the route and it was a huge boost to morale every time it drove past. When the bus cam to take us back home it really hit home just how far we had travelled.”
