American online volunteering site Volunteermatch has shared some statistics with its e-mail newsletter subscribers on how frequently Americans choose to volunteer.

American online volunteering site Volunteermatch has shared some statistics with its e-mail newsletter subscribers on how frequently Americans choose to volunteer.

Quoting from Independent Sector’s Giving and Volunteering in the United States, 1999, Volunteermatch reports that “Of those who volunteer, 41% pursued intermittent, one-time opportunities while 39% of volunteers preferred to serve at a regularly scheduled time (i.e., weekly, monthly, etc.). A mere 9% reported a preference for volunteering only seasonally (e.g., during Christmas or Hannukah).
