Saint Isidore of Seville, who is credited with writing an encyclopaedia, dictionary and history of the world, is front-runner for becoming the patron saint of Internet users and computer programmers. The decision will be made by the Vatican’s Congregation of Divine Worship.

Tech-aware PC users will know that they have always relied on printer daemons and mailer daemons, so a patron saint should restore the balance. Whether Saint Isadore will help you avoid the a PC crash or avoid the “404 page not found” error is not clear. Those who spend far too much time sitting at their PCs might find some comfort in the fact that Saint Isidore was a renowned hermit.
